My David Beckham

at a Chinese wedding, my hubby's teammates in soccer

w/ Mio, Cel's sister

Attended a wedding last night
I know, my life is so full
but yeah, not much time to sleep
Though I was lazy to go to this wedding
as I have never met the couple yet
It was important to my hubby as it's his coach's son's wedding
He's been playing soccer since we moved back to Manila
and he's the only white guy in the team
well, there's a couple but not regulars
He's their rockstar since he's white
Even when they have guests from China
Everyone would want a picture with him
Because he's white, hahaha
Last night, though I was being a brat of not wanting to go
I was glad I did
I got to meet his teammates
and saw how welcome he is
and how they like him being part of the team
Man, they even made him officer and made him read in Chinese, go figure!
I was also amused how they all come up to him
and even when we were waiting for our car
They were like schoolboys calling out his name
from their cars
And some while walking to the parking
Just cool and amusing
And now I understand why Sunday football is important to my hubby
And why he really enjoys it
Good workout for the body and soul.
Nice to be part of the team

Signs you're way too involved in your own construction when...

For months, I breathe the construction, my waking and sleeping hours
my conscious and subconscious
So, I decided to put some humor in and share what I've been going through these past months

Signs you're way too invloved in your own construction...

1. Somebody asks you, "Ma'm, did you perm your hair? It's nice, it's wavy"
To which you reply, "No, I just came from the site when I just shampooed , hence, the dust settling on the hair made it wavy"

2. Every person you meet, whether stranger or otherwise, would hear your non stop stories about the developments of your construction

3. When your construction worker, the one who installs the tiles in your bathroom, asks you to be godmother to his child

4. When what you're going to feed them at your thank you party, you need to call several people for advice on the kind of food they'll enjoy

5. When the people befriending you on facebook and you confirming are the sales people in Wilcon

6. When you start giving advices to the sales people in Wilcon & Home depot and give inspiring messages since you feel you have a bond with them

7. When you know their life stories and shed tears because the nicest one there who's always happy to serve you lost his mom at such an early age and his stepmom doesn't care and how they're not regulars and would end contract before Christmas

8. When since you know this fact, you ask for their resumes and try to find them a better future

9. When even when your eyes are closed and your hubby is apparently watching you, asks you, okay , what have you decided for the hanging artpiece? Gosh, how does he know that's what I was thinking???

10. And the number 1 sign you are way too involved and obsessed, you can't stop blogging about it!!!

Hahaha, hope you enjoy my 10 things. Coming real soon...

Lights!

railings will still be painted in black
checking out the place at night
Would it ever be complete without an update regarding construction
Since we have switches now
we were able to visit site at night and see how it looks during the evening
with the lights on
Almost, almost there...

Wait, there's more

Oh wait, am not done with my angels story
When I cam home from the event I covered in Alabang
guess what the guard gave me
this super yummy cheesecake that even my hubby liked
Thank you to Yvonne Dayrit- Romualdez of Miladay
for this wonderful, yummy cake she sent
God really knows how to keep me inspired amidst the stresses of construction
Thank you for the friendship.
Much appreciated!

My earthly angels

w/ Cel

I know, I know, what kind of commitment do I have?
Calling it everydayflair and I haven't been uploading photos
Truth is, I haven't been asking my "everydayflair photographers" to take my pic
as am running around everytime
We are moving in 3 weeks!!!
Last Wednesday, my driver was absent
I haven't driven since 1993
so it is quite harrassing for me
if my driver decides to take the day off
There were numerous suppliers waiting for me
and materials needed in construction need to be bought urgently
Meetings
Everyday is planned to meet target date
Then the sched of the kids
Even with a driver, my husband & I always make it a point to bring
and pick up kids from school
Usually, he brings them
and I pick them up
Had to ask favors that day so my children will have a ride home
It really helps that we live so close to the schools
I am just so blessed and thankful to these people who made last
Wednesday a walk in the park
Rica Lopez-de Jesus
Rica's son & my son are in the same varsity
hence, there's the weekly school practice
Thanks to Rica, my youngest had a ride home after practice
Jackie Laudico
My other son had to go to catechism (CCD) after class
but since I teach, I had to go way earlier than him
Despite Jackie being super busy
When I was telling her about my dilemma of the driver
she volunteered and said she'll pick up my eldest and bring to Sanctuario de San Antonio
Phew, what a relief!
Then my eldest calls me from home when I was already in class
"Mom, don't I have CCD today?"
"What are you doing home? You're supposed to be here"
So I called Tita Jackie,
"Jack, you brought J home"
Oh sorry, mare, San Antonio pala"
You know how good she is
She went back to pick up my eldest at home then
dropped him off to CCD, grabe, what a friend!

Then there's my friend Anne
How do we go home from class?
No cabs in the area
Anne's daughter goes to class too
No problem, driver's there and will wait for you
Afterwhich, I still had to prepare dinner (my hubby & I cook at home, maid only cleans)
then go to Alabang for an event
Thanks again to my photographer in Town & Country
who picked me up and brought me home
Then there's Cely who despite her busy sched
quickly met up with me for lunch the day after
just to listen to me vent about the construction
And of course, there's sweeet Rima
who always calls me whenever
just to check how things are going with the construction
and to always be a breath of fresh air
So many angels around me
Am blessed to have very good friendships
That's why I always say
Life's good!

Musings of Mrs. W

top from Hong Kong
Took a mental health day yesterday morning
was in the site early for an hour and a half
was going to buy more tiles and stuff but decided to
go to Greenbelt 5 , bought hanging lamps
So excited about this
I've been wanting these lamps for over a decade
and couldn't use them cause you need a high ceiling
And since I have super high ones
I can finally have them, yipee!
Best of all, not so expensive
as other lighting options
So, went around Greenblet 5 then Glorietta
Got myself something
I know, I know
I shouldn't be shopping for myself
but I needed a break from hardware stores
and much as I like and enjoy hardware shopping
didn't want to make life long commitments, if you know what I mean
So a shirt and a skirt after
and a shirt for my almost teenage son
Went back to the site
tried on the lamps
which the workers couldn't understand
but in awe
as they're not traditional lamps
So I heard the word "malikhain" from them, yet again
Picked up my eldest cause he goes to catechism with me
Met a mom of my student
and told me how appreciative she is
That means so much to teachers!
When I started out teaching
I was very apprehensive
then the kids got to be
rowdy
I was , everytime, asking myself
what did I get myself into?
I was starting not to like going
But then the kids started getting to know me
and from flying paper airplanes while am teaching
I have seen huge improvement in them
I teach IS kids
and it's a big challenge cause the school has diverse values
For me to be able to touch their lives
and influence the kind of person they can become
closer to the Big Boss
is just my utmost goal
I don't give homeworks which would be to memorize
beatitudes or commandments
homeworks are always about applying what we learned in real life
or making them closer to their families
Slowly, I am enjoying teaching
I have come to understand and love my students
and I feel they have come to respect and value me
That is what makes everything worth it
When people ask me why I do all these volunteer jobs
Which are often thankless jobs
I always tell them
I've been given much, this is just payback time
And honestly, the way my students are progressing
and I see their interest in learning more
I'd be crazy not to continue with what I'm doing
I could be sleeping, shopping, reading or socializing
at these times
But life for me is not about the number of hours spent
alone(though we need this)
But more so the number of hours we have touched lives and made a difference
Wednesday's becoming a favorite day for me!

Comfy feel

top: ZARA kids

You probably have a full dose of my construction updates
but now is really crunch time
So my outfits lately
have been pure comfort and though I still wear heels a lot
I've stored flats in the car so I can change when I visit the site

Love this ZARA kids shirt I got years ago
very comfy and cute at the same time
Went to the parlor in the morning
Despite people calling me for decisions
I decided to have an hour to myself
then had a 2 hour meeting with my contractors
guess what it's about?
LIGHTS!!!
We finally finalized all the lighting
crossed out some in the plans
changed this to that
put this on that
and voila, 2 hours of walking around imagining
what and where to put
Then quickly rushed to my client's place
to approve paint color
I am so excited about this project
it's a young lady's room
It's going to be the hippest and coolest teen room ever!
Gotta go pick up the lamps I ordered
Someone's gotta do the job around here
See ya!

Casual Monday

top from Bangkok, pants: ZARA, belt: GAP, bag: Fino

After I brought the kids to school, went straight to the construction site.
It's barely a month to move in and there are decisions we have yet to make.
Stayed there for 2 hours then went home to check e-mail.

I purposely didn't open the computer the whole weekend
Wanted peace and quiet

Of course, I opened to gazillion e-mails today
And some had to call already to reach me
I miss the days when there were no cellphones

My day was spent making decisions from the most mundane of what ceiling fan to choose
to what floor pattern
to the installation of solar panels and solar water heater
to wallpaper
Thank goodness, I am now quietly ,at home, blogging

Moving real soon and I have so many emotions
of excitement, sentimentality
Plus I have to deal with the kids' anticipation too
The days just go like the wind
just going through the motions
and looking forward when I can relax and enjoy
the fruits of our labor

Christmas is near
I have never been not ready for Christmas
I usually am almost done by August
First time that I haven't started anything
Have to get into it one of these days

Another one I look forward to is simbang gabi

Enjoy the week!

Home with a view

casual set-up, serving take out Chinese food from Eat Well

our home with a view
One of the last dinners I will probably host in this home
As I am gone the whole day
Site inspection and meetings in the morning
then catechism class in the afternoon
Decided to just serve take out food from Eat Well
Had a wonderful time
talking about life, the world
and just about anything one can think of

I have hosted countless parties and dinners
at this home of ours
I love entertaining
My guest, last night, asked me
if I would miss the place
to which I replied a ho-hum answer
We've moved countless times
as it's part of the expat life
In Bangkok alone, we moved 3 times in a span
of 2.5 years!
The thing we've done to always make it feel at home
despite the difference in country or location
was have the same pieces
When we started out, we never bought stuff for the sake of it
We always waited til we find the right one
Hence, we plan to keep the same stuff in the new home
Interesting how it would look in a totally different perspective
I am so at home in our home
I love it
It still evokes a feeling of warmth & coziness
I still enjoy looking at it to this day
Being greeted by the greenery of the golf course in the morning
while being hypnotized by the skyscrapers at night
and the cars moving by the flyover
It's lovely, mesmerizing
and comforting
It is home
It was in the past 6 years
and it will , in my memory,
Forever be

Like a cape

jacket : Culte Femme

jeans ZARA
Had a fairly easy day
Well, have a lot to do but decided to take it slow
Had my usual meeting
with architect, contractors
then met up with my friend, Anne G., lunch at Chelsea
picked up kids
home
It's just barely over a month
til move in
Am not dealing with my emotions yet
More concerned on logistics at this point
Wish this cape-like I'm wearing
can give me super powers
I can dream, can't I?
