Olivia d'Aboville

the gorgeous, Olivia d'Aboville

Yesterday was again one of those days where I scheduled people with regards to

works pending in our home

From 9 a.m. onwards, I had carpenters for the shutters which still they were not able to

install cause, okay, fine, it wasn't per standard

Then the fabric supplier came and gosh, what lovely fabrics they brought

Went out to go to the parlor, then bought flowers

Came home then waited for my appointment with Olivia.

Met Olivia d'Aboville last year

When I just started doing the society pages for Town & Country

Olivia's art exhibit in the prestigious main gallery of Ayala Museum was one of the first

I covered

First time I met her, I thought she was beautiful

Actually, I met her prior to her exhibit

At the Bastille Day at Sofitel

She caught my eye already hence I asked if she can be photographed by our photographer

Only to find out she was "the" event I was covering the next day

Through the course of the year, we would , few times, keep in touch through e-mail

Then she found me on facebook though I really am not a FB kind of person

Then would see her at events then the rest is history

When I saw her work again at the Sofitel last week

I had to ask her if she can come and do something for our place

Cute as she is, she excitedly said yes

She is one talented young person and the more I conversed with her yesterday

The more impressed I got (I don't get impressed easily)

I even had to ask, how did your parents raise you? haha

Such a beautiful, talented, grounded person.

What's more

She loved our place

She said it's amazing and inspiring!

Wow, she really was impressed!

Told her

Coming from her, I was flattered.

So here's Ms. d'Aboville

She will go a long way

What a wonderful person at such a young age

Beautiful, beautiful, my kind of beauty

Keep it up, Olivia!

Can't wait to see you shine even more!

Still living in construction

scaffolding still needed

sample of my shutters

pantry shelves arrived

Sorry for the silence, yes, I know, am still busy with our home

a work in progress

Taking awhile for punchlisting as I made them stop 'cause I can't bear having workers

everyday in the house

Aside from the noise, dust, privacy issues

I can't go out!

But then you gotta do, what you gotta do

And since I had my break

I got my psych good again

for the noise, workers, and patience with mediocrity

Thing is, though everyday is busy

Everytime it's a step forward

And I am thankful for those people who help make it happen

Happy almost weekend!

A New Year !

Okay, okay, it's been almost a month of no entries.
My computer got broken in the midst of moving homes, can you believe that?
I only get to borrow my hubby's computer between 6:30-6:45 in the morning to check on important e-mails.

Promise, when I have my new computer, will catch up big time.

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas.
Happy birthday, Jesus!

Our contractors are so good, just when nobody believed that we can move on time, we did!
We moved in before Christmas, I mean, who does that???
What kind of normal people would succumb themselves to that pressure?
Well, I always thought normal was boring anyway, haha.

Had a lot of my friends come in to visit and view :)
Had to stop viewing last week as we need to do some retouching.

My friend Trisha came over today despite the temporary restriction to accept viewers, haha
I told her,
Trish , we're that close, house is less than perfect and I allowed you to see it"

Next post, since I can't post photos
Will write about my friends' feedback regarding our new home.

I am tired.
Exhausted
But happy
And content

Have a great year ahead!

Signs you're way too involved in your own construction when...

For months, I breathe the construction, my waking and sleeping hours
my conscious and subconscious
So, I decided to put some humor in and share what I've been going through these past months

Signs you're way too invloved in your own construction...

1. Somebody asks you, "Ma'm, did you perm your hair? It's nice, it's wavy"
To which you reply, "No, I just came from the site when I just shampooed , hence, the dust settling on the hair made it wavy"

2. Every person you meet, whether stranger or otherwise, would hear your non stop stories about the developments of your construction

3. When your construction worker, the one who installs the tiles in your bathroom, asks you to be godmother to his child

4. When what you're going to feed them at your thank you party, you need to call several people for advice on the kind of food they'll enjoy

5. When the people befriending you on facebook and you confirming are the sales people in Wilcon

6. When you start giving advices to the sales people in Wilcon & Home depot and give inspiring messages since you feel you have a bond with them

7. When you know their life stories and shed tears because the nicest one there who's always happy to serve you lost his mom at such an early age and his stepmom doesn't care and how they're not regulars and would end contract before Christmas

8. When since you know this fact, you ask for their resumes and try to find them a better future

9. When even when your eyes are closed and your hubby is apparently watching you, asks you, okay , what have you decided for the hanging artpiece? Gosh, how does he know that's what I was thinking???

10. And the number 1 sign you are way too involved and obsessed, you can't stop blogging about it!!!

Hahaha, hope you enjoy my 10 things. Coming real soon...

Lights!

railings will still be painted in black
checking out the place at night
Would it ever be complete without an update regarding construction
Since we have switches now
we were able to visit site at night and see how it looks during the evening
with the lights on
Almost, almost there...

I love the Vigan bricks and got them for a steal!

Just sharing with you how far along now, am pressured if they can finish on time
So far, they're still confident
Stay tuned...

Site visit

Reg Yuson explaining his idea

It's a Sunday
Most people just relax and don't want to do anything
I am so touched that my good friend Reg texted early morning
as soon as he woke up to tell me he wants to go back to the site
and conceptualize
I have asked Reg to do something for our space
Most artworks that we have at home
are from artist friends
It just makes everything more meaningful
It creates more joy knowing friends helped
in how the space evolved
What started as a plan on where Reg will work
a little inspiration and eureka
an idea just sprouted in his head
I LOVE IT!!!
I am sooo excited to see how his vision will materialize
Thanks for picking me up
and the cool ride
though you didn't allow me to take your picture
infront of your banner all over Global City (haha)
You drove all the way on a Sunday
to please a friend.
Thank you, Reg.
Keep shining!

Building dreams II

going to the loft
My hang out
With the smell of cement, dust everywhere
and traipsing on stairs without railings (for now)
I love it
love the whole organic process of building
For those who think it's not for them
I highly recommend it
No other way to build your home
but with all the labor of love
you put in it

Almost there...

Small bathroom

Sharing with you the first one that I can concretely see my concept unfold
Here's the maids' bathroom.
Didn't want to go with the usual white to make the space look bigger
It's small, accept that, no pretensions
But that wouldn't stop me from making it stunning
Initial impact was what I was going for
And though it might seem like I like fashion
Interiors really give me a high
Enjoy your week!

Coming soon...

Though it looks like much still has to be done
things are moving fast

Coming soon...

What I see in the site everyday...
Happy Tuesday!

My hang out

Spent hours at Home Depot then the site
as you can see , it's starting to take shape
I, sometimes, just sit there, amidst the noise and dust
Staring, conceptualizing
already thinking which furniture goes where
whether I should put a ceiling fan or not
Days seem to go so fast
that am so happy I get to document this process
I have the chance to enjoy every single minute of it
I get to see something come to fruition
Though we're in a hurry to move
am absorbing every step
learning, listening, observing, learning some more
And though I teach
Am a student through and through
Friday's almost here
Enjoy!
