Purple Reign, Purple Rain???

purple dress from Culte Femme
shoes from Rustan's

dress with back ribbon detail
Growing up, my Mom always told me to stay away from purple though it's my Dad's fave color, my Mom claims it's unflattering. Good thing, I followed my Dad's taste this time. I never look at any color as unflaterring, I think what's most important is the cut and the confidence on wearing something you love and feel comfortable in.
Though Moms are most often right, I guess, we got to find our own take once in a while. Purple reigns!
( Thank you to Cris & Rina for the fabulous shots!)

Nautical high

Love things nautical not excluding clothing. The heat is on in Manila and what better way to lift up the spirit but with some clothing meant for the high seas.
old Bayo shirt with ruffle detail on the sleeve, I've been wearing Bayo for more than 15 years now, I believe.

red ribbon belt from Market2, Fort Bonifacio Global City

cuff from Ho Chi Minh market , Vietnam
chinos from Zara
Just a few good basic pieces and add the right accessories and you'll be set. Stripey shirt on chinos, cuteness! Oh and yeah, you're never fully dressed without a smile, trust me, it's the one accessory that can make you and others feel good. So flash those pearly whites, book your trip and sail away...

Chains and Roses

Got my 500 peso chain necklace from the American Women's Bazaar yesterday. It's made in Cebu. I just added the flower pin to give contrast. Love doing that. Something edgy yet still romantic. I usually go for contrasting elements even in interior design. I am so digging my new necklace. Here's to Filipino craftsmanship!

Ruins of a Palace

This is the facade of the Ruins in Talisay in Bacolod City. It used to be a beautiful mansion but was burned down by the Americans during the war to prohibit the Japanese from hiding here. With its Grade A materials, despite the attempt to burn the place down, what you see right now was still preserved. Gorgeous, gorgeous place, would be a great place to hold a wedding or any special occasion especially at night when the lights are all lit.

So, when you do get the chance to visit the land of sugar, Bacolod, that is, make sure the Ruins is on top of your list.
Enjoy the City of Smiles...

An Event to Remember

Would love to receive this for Valentine's Day tomorrow. It's by a Filipino who made it big in the design/events world. Every page is full of inspiration and idea.
Definitely, a book to have and remember.

Kung hei fat choy!

Since I've spent 4 years of my life in beautiful Hong Kong, celebrating Chinese New Year is sentimental to me.
No dragon dances to watch this year but still got the traditional "tikoy" from my friend, Karen. Thanks a lot for the yummy "tikoy"!

Kung hei fat choy!!!

Big things come in small packages

carved wooden clutch from Aranaz
colored banig clutch from Baguio market

vintage Chanel bag from Mom

Steve Madden clutch from Cielo

another clutch from Aranaz using native materials

beautiful clutch with rosettes

Kate Spade mini bag doubles as a clutch when folded

clutch from Ferragamo circa 1997

beaded clutch from a bazaar

zebra print from Jim Thompson

patent black clutch with ribbon detail in green from Trisha

Clutches -
Small, light, easy, doesn't try to be the center of attention when wearing a statement dress or could be the focal point when one prefers so.
The perfect kind of accessory, never cramps your style but paired correctly makes a big statement.
Beauty doesn't come from overbearing things but in little things that grab one's imagination.
So next time you're looking for the perfect bag, just clutch it!

Ciao Roma!

It's soon summertime and travel season will be in full swing. Probably not the best time to go to Rome as it might be hot and crowded but hey give me a ticket and anytime is a good time to be in Rome.
Lots of history, beauty, intrigue and legend make this once Golden City still one of the best places to visit in the world.
Make sure it's on the top of your list of places to see and experience. It wouldn't have been called Golden for nothing.
Ciao bella!

Cinching it!

white bubble dress from Luna accessorized with a green beaded belt from Carolina's
tan belt from Freeway

Mother of pearl belt wrapped around zebra print maxi dress from Ilaya

same white Luna bubble dress with bolero of my own design and wooden carved Culte Femme belt

dress from HK with the same wooden carved belt from Culte Femme
Don't you think something as small as the belt made the whole outfit work??? In fashion, interiors and just about most things in life, it's all in the details.

Time to tighten your belts!

Love using belts as accessories and they really make a simple outfit stunning. Here are some of my favorites from my own collection.
Above: butterfly belt from ZARA
Carved wooden belt from Culte Femme, Rustan's Makati
Flower buckle from Mango
Jeweled belt from ZARA
Mother of pearl from a German lady in a bazaar

Next post will be me wearing these beauties....

The long and short of it

Both dresses from Hindy Tantoco's Culte Femme S/S 2007 ( if am not mistaken).
Location : Hight Street, Bonifacio Global City
Sometimes, am in the mood to wear maxidresses and sometimes I want to wear short, easy, flirty and fun. What about you, are you in for the long or short of it???
