Angels and the Jackie I know

New Year's Eve 2009

What I thought was a non eventful day turned out to be serendipitous

Started by waking up with less enthusiasm

Didn't get my 8 hours of sleep

Then hubby & kids left

Organized a bit then went to my board meeting in our previous residence

Yup, still on the board there but not for long

Went home then picked up my youngest in school

Greeted Mama Mary happy birthday

and prayed in the chapel

My eldest was supposed to ride his carpool

Their turn to bring him home

Being the controlling freak that I am

I reminded everyone involved

My son, the teacher, the carpool

So around 4 p.m., was wondering why they're so late

and figured maybe carpool was late

Then teacher texted me that carpool left him

Huwhat???

I have no driver right now!

So mom of carpool called and said her driver forgot

Teacher texted and said she arranged for a classmate to bring him home

So, I was okay, but was wondering what's taking them a long time

Then got a call from one of my closest, best friends, Jackie Laudico

"Jack, what's up?"

She goes, "how are you?"

"Waiting for J to come home, his carpool left him"

Jack: Yeah, saw him walking alone

Me: Huwhat? A mom's supp to bring him home. He doesn't know how to cross the street!

So I hang up and tried calling my son

Just to make sure he's safe

He doesn't pick up my calls nor answer the texts!

From where Jackie saw him, he needs to cross a huge, busy road

Then got a call from Jackie

"Mare, got him na, he's okay"

Oh thank God!

Thank God that He really sends angels around us to protect us

I got goose bumps when I was telling my kids that in the chapel today

I greeted Mama Mary happy birthday and asked to keep them safe

And you know what, Jackie said, she rarely passes that way

And just by chance, looked at the rearview and saw my son

She calls it serendipity

I call it God's hand

Everyday, I feel His great guidance and love

How can I not give glory back to Him?

Thank God for a friend like Jackie

Certainly as classy as her namesake

Thank you, Jack

And thank you God for always without fail, making your presence felt.

And happy birthday again, Mama Mary!

School for worry warts

An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."

Got this a long time ago , again, from a friend.
I always give this advice to worrywarts
At a children's party recently
I was asked , so what worries you?
Not a worry, just annoying things
Am the reverse, they say not to sweat the small things
I only get irritated with things I know I can do something about
Otherwise, if something's beyond my control
I let go and just make the most of the situation
Secret to staying young and happy

Keep smiling, there's so much good in this world.

Sweet nothings

this is Manang from Joyce where I buy rhum cake

her pasalubong from Bacolod

Yesterday, after my son's tennis in Rockwell

Kids and I had dinner and as usual went to our fave stall in Baker's Dozen

It's the Joyce stall selling rhum cakes, etc

Funny thing is, my kids love to get the samples which is already embarrassing

But this Manang keeps re-filling everytime and encourages them to get

We see each other often, in Rockwell and the monthly American Women's Bazaar

Last Monday, after tennis again, she asked if I can come this weekend

She will give me something

Was so touched when yesterday, she gave me this piyaya which she brought from her vacation

from Bacolod

I was really touched for her to have thought of me

What a nice gesture from someone I just smile at and share cordial greetings

and buy from every now and then

Things that make you see how much goodness there is in this world despite of.

Okay, okay, need to go real soon!

Til next!

The Story of my Dress

This gown was sewn the night before the wedding!

There's a story to this gown

It was made the night before the wedding!!!

I am one of those women

Who is lucky enough to have my own cutter/seamstress

I don't really need to go to a designer

since my seamstress is a very good one

Months before the wedding, been texting her

But she never showed up to our appointments

Until a week before the date!

She asked me to buy a chiffon fabric

which I objected to

but she said I don't have a gown yet with that fabric

So, I let her talk me into it

Until...

I saw the gown and it looked like curtain!!!

I just couldn't wear that thing!

So I had to tell her how it's not me

and that I won't feel comfortable wearing that, blah, blah, blah

I saw her concern when she suggested

Ma'am , I'll just make you a new one

I didn't think , at first , that it was a good idea since

it's the afternoon before the wedding!

She might not show up!

To cut a long story short, she delivered the dress

at 8 p.m. that night and fit was perfect!

You know what she said?

She was able to finish my dress and do it herself, not her staff

because she didn't get a single call or text from her other clients

Even from the one whom she was supposed to meet with

She said , she couldn't believe how that happened, there's no day where

she doesn't get a text or call

And she said how amazed she was!

I got goose bumps when she was telling me that story

I believe in angels

And it just amazes me that even with something

as trivial as what I'm going to wear

The angels work hard to make me comfortable and stress-free

And all I could think of was

It pays to believe...

Have a blessed Holy Week!
